While perusing my Facebook account, I came across this post from Business Insider, “How to see all of the apps on Facebook tracking you—and block them.” I decided to check it out, but thought very smugly to myself, “I never use Facebook to access any apps—I’m safe.”
OMG was I wrong!
Just look at all of the apps tracking me…
Baltimore Gifts, Bowling Buddies—where did they come from? I recognized many of the apps but had no idea that I gave them permission to track me through Facebook. Some had access to my birthday, work history, friends, and much more. Of course, I lie about my birthday on Facebook (-: Said I was born in 1900, plus I don’t have my work history in my profile. However, many folks post all of that info.
So, click on this link and read the article. Their directions are clear and concise—you won’t have any trouble following them. And…all of us better start reading those terms of agreement when we download a new app!
